neuro-linguistic programming

In conjunction with Clinical Hypnotherapy, our hypnotherapist Julie may incorporate specific Neuro-Linguistic Programming strategies to produce specific outcomes in your session. As a highly effective system, it can change patterns of emotional and mental behaviour that allow you to become more self-aware and improve communication. This, in turn, enables the formation of new behaviours and creates the pathway to achieving your pre-determined goals or objectives.

What IS CLINICAL HYPNOTHERAPY?

Clinical hypnotherapy is a combination of hypnosis and psychological treatment. It involves getting the client into a relaxed state of mind where the therapist can communicate with the subconscious part of the brain and make suggestions relevant to specific symptoms. This altered state of consciousness gives the individual an enhanced ability to respond more precisely to these cues and suggestions, increasing their propensity to modify the attitudes, beliefs and behaviours that are keeping them back from effective change. Clinical hypnotherapy can also provide an alternative, drug free pathway for dealing with symptoms of illness and disease usually regulated by medication.

How DOES CLINICAL HYPNOTHERAPY WORK?

Clinical hypnotherapy works by deliberately inducing a relaxed state of awareness through calming suggestions and relaxation techniques. Once the mind is in a relaxed state, our therapist will relay therapeutic suggestions, and ask questions that begin to challenge your current attitudes, beliefs and perceptions. During clinical hypnotherapy, you are fully conscious, in total control and in fact experiencing higher than normal brain activity. It's believed that this increased brain activity is what allows the mind to absorb and adopt new ideas and behaviours. Hypnotherapy can be used in conjunction with all of our services and teaches you mental tools and techniques to deal with ongoing triggers, destructive thinking and harmful behaviours.

What does it feel like to be in a hypnotic state?

A hypnotic state is an altered state of consciousness, similar to a meditative state. During clinical hypnotherapy, you may feel very relaxed and have a strong internal focus but are still in complete control. The hidden power of hypnotic trance is in the suggestions you listen to and how much you embrace these new ideas. You cannot be hypnotised against your will. Hypnosis or clinical hypnotherapy only works if you agree to let it happen.

Frequently asked CLINICAL HYPNOTHERAPY questions

What to expect in your clinical hypnotherapy consultation?

During your initial consultation, our Clinical Hypnotherapist Julie will ask you a series of questions about your medical history, lifestyle, work, social background, and the reasons for your visit i.e. what do you want to work on improving or eliminating? You can also choose to complete a questionnaire via email prior to your appointment if that makes you feel more comfortable.

If your appointment is conducted in our wellness centre you'll then get a chance to sit down, relax and unwind in our treatment room. Your first session usually takes between 1-3 hours, depending on the person and the issue you want to overcome.

If your appointment is via video conferencing technology, we'll ask you to ensure you're free of distractions and sitting or lying comfortably where we can see you.

Review appointments are usually 1 hour and highly recommended to ensure you're progressing as expected. Most clients usually only require between 1-3 clinical hypnotherapy appointments.

WHO IS OUR clinical hypnotherapist?

Julie Bristow

Julie’s passion for hypnotherapy originated as a Fitness Director and International Recruiter after seeking more effective methods to motivate her team and drive change amongst clients.

She identified a huge gap in the minds of clients whom she could see harboured a wealth of knowledge but had a lack of will or inability to act on that knowledge.
